“The MindStrong Project has been a huge part of our mental & performance training within our Ohio State pitching staff. A large part of the game of baseball is the mental side, and the breathing concepts we were introduced to dramatically improved our performance on the field. I believe every athlete should internally understand themselves and how to maximize their individual performance. The MindStrong Project does an unbelievable job of unpacking this.”
The next Academy begins January 21st, 2021. In-person spots are limited!
The Academy
The Breath Academy is a unique learning experience focused on developing a competitive edge for athletes with a variety of backgrounds. You will learn the same MindStrong Breath Protocols and techniques that our professional clients like Nick Bjugstad (NHL), James van Riemsdyk (NHL), Nate Orf (MLB), among others have implemented into their daily training routine.
Our clients have not only realized PRs in endurance, strength, and speed tests, but most importantly, have taken their in-game performance and cognitive decision making ability to new levels. The biggest component for these high level athletes is developing a deep self-awareness of the mental barriers that inhibit them from reaching their fullest potential as humans. We have seen firsthand the health impacts that stress and anxiety to always perform at or near 100% has on our clients and those same stressors are now commonplace through all levels of athletics.
This is a 5-session human performance training program centered around the three core pillars of breath work: Becoming Calm, Becoming Resilient, Becoming Mobile. The program is designed to equip each athlete with the skills and techniques that will positively impact their performance and mental well-being.
The MindStrong Academy is an environment that aligns athletes with high aspirations to a space that allows them to be vulnerable about navigating the challenges and barriers between where they currently stand and who they wish to become. As one former student put it, “The MindStrong Academy is a masterclass, team of accountability partners, and mental training program all in one.”
Academy Objectives
The Breath Academy is specifically designed to bring the same tested and proven protocols to athletes and humans of all ages and skill levels. The protocols taught in this course will not only help you as an athlete, but also help prepare you for life outside of performance.
The primary objectives of the Breath Academy include:
- Understand the role the breath plays in improving mental and athletic performance
- Learn the proper breath mechanics for optimal cognition
- Gain a deeper self-awareness of your thoughts, emotions, and physiology to overcome your own mental barriers and roadblocks and learn to use this self-awareness to your advantage
- Understand the role breath plays in calming or awakening anxiety and stress or maintaining a calm, collective state of being
- Develop a basic understanding of the MindStrong Breath Protocols and be able to implement them into your daily or weekly training plan.
- Learn to use the Breath Protocols to increase in-game decision making, maintain a calm-state of being, and improve training, recovery, and performance outcomes.
- Walk away with concrete exercises to utilize on a daily basis to continue to enhance your own human experience.

Finding teachers who can properly communicate mental training is a hard task and I’m so appreciative of the smart, calculated, common sense approach of Austin Hanson. The MindStrong Project and Austin have made a lasting impression on both our players and coaches. Our ‘Fire and Ice’ sessions, breath work training and mindset building has been an experience that has impacted our players and made them stronger players and people.
I have firsthand knowledge of Austin’s wisdom as he has helped guide me through daily breathing routines that has created a little bit more of a seamless day. I’m a busy bee and always have something going but the breath work I have implemented has slowed me down and made me more impactful in my daily work and given me energy to work with my team and students.
What MindStrong does and continues to do is unmatched. They dig deep into the minds of athletes to help better prepare them for situations both on and off the field. The resources MindStrong provides help put these athletes on a different level and help perform at the highest. I strongly recommend and encourage any high school, college and professional athletes to get in touch with Harvey and Austin.
